VELOCITY RETAIL UNLEASHES QR CODES TO ACCELERATE MARKETING

Velocity Retail announces a new implementation of QR codes in our leasing and sales of retail shopping centers.  The addition of QR codes to window signs, leasing brochures and marketing packages is making it faster and easier for the client to be able to get the necessary information quickly and efficiently.

“Velocity Retail is continually looking for ways that technology can make doing business easier for our clients,” said Dave Cheatham, Managing Principal at Velocity.  “We are launching the use of QR Codes in our marketing materials and window signs.  If you scan one of these codes on a property sign, it takes you straight to the web page that gives you the details on the property.  No clicking, searching, or time wasted on a web site,” he added.

QR Code – is an abbreviation for “Quick Response Code”.  It is a two-dimensional bar code that is designed to bring information quickly into your hands. The system was invented by a Toyota subsidiary in 1994 to track vehicles during the manufacturing process.  It now can be seen in Pepsi commercials, on products in Sears stores, on restaurant windows and business cards.

Smart phones have brought this technology into the forefront in recent months.  If you have an iPhone, or an Android phone, you can download a free application that lets you scan a QR Code and instantly get the information about that product, place, or person.

The QR Codes look like UPC codes but they are capable of storing much more data.  You simply scan the codes with your mobile phone or iPad by snapping a photo with a QR Code reader.

There are several QR scan applications available to smart phone users.  Most are free of charge and make scanning a QR Code and accessing the information fast and easy.  Examples of some are:

  • Scan It!
  • Red Laser
  • QR Droid
  • Google Goggles

“Our clients and customers are concerned about efficiency, accuracy and speed.  If we can do all that by bringing technology alongside our marketing programs everyone wins,” said Cheatham.

While this technology has been prevalent throughout Japan and Europe for several years, this tool has only recently been introduced in the United States.  Velocity Retail is committed to bringing technological advances to our clients.  Bringing the QR Code to our marketing efforts is just one example of our commitment to differentiate ourselves from the competition and accelerate our clients’ success.
